A Weekend in the Life of a Rosemont Bride

A Rosemont bride stands in the grand foyer of the mansion

Your Virginia wedding at Rosemont.

The drive out to Historic Rosemont Manor on Friday afternoon is one of the most beautiful you have ever seen. Car horns are replaced by birdsong, and the smell of fresh cut grass lingers in the air. In no time at all, you are in Berryville. You feel like you have stepped back in time, as you drive by quaint shops and “ma and pa” restaurants. You arrive at the front gates, which are flung open in joyful anticipation of your arrival. From the moment you pass through, Rosemont begins to weave its magical spell. The winding drive takes you through fragrant fruit trees, blossoming, glorious hedges, and a lush front lawn perfectly manicured and shimmering in the afternoon sun. You arrive at the Manor House relaxed and happy. The innkeeper greets you warmly and you find yourself feeling like you’re home at last. Your closest friends and family are already sat on the back portico, glass of wine in hand, awaiting your arrival. You all are together, and the rehearsal begins with no mistakes. It’s “short and sweet” , and everyone is at ease and having a great time. There’s no rush to depart for your rehearsal dinner, because the caterer has already prepared all aspects of the rehearsal dinner and the savory smell of barbeque is in the air. After a wonderful meal, you have a great conversation with your grandmother, whom you haven’t seen in ages. Your guests soon retire to their individual rooms, some to soak in their oversize tubs, others to snuggle up in their beds and read a few pages of the latest bestseller. You and your fiancée sit on the Grand Portico, listening to the soothing chirp of crickets and counting the stars in the clear Virginia sky. Wow! You count the silhouettes of 14 deer standing still as statues in the moonlit night. You stare in wonder. Things couldn’t be more perfect! You are excited about your wedding and reception and looking forward to your life together.

You awake the next morning feeling refreshed from the best night’s sleep you have had in weeks (maybe you can buy the mattress!) Glorious birdsong fills the air and the sky is a brilliant blue, with not a hint of rain in sight (you’ve heard rumors that Rosemont only allows rain after midnight!). You join your family and friends for a delicious buffet breakfast. The hairdresser and beautician is scheduled to arrive at 11am, so you have time for a quick walk around the grounds before you start your beauty routine. The groom and his men are golfing this morning. You know they will be back in time since the course is only five minutes from Berryville. Some of your guests have gone shopping in Berryville, and have decided to have lunch at Berryville’s Battletown Inn. You and the girls have the place to yourself! You can’t believe how relaxed you feel!

The Rosemont staff is already preparing for your event. You aren’t worried that the Carriage House won’t be set up in time, because you know that a professional and seasoned staff is handling your catering. Within hours the reception area is transformed into a fairy tale setting fit for a Prince and Princess–with twinkling lights, candles, fresh flowers and beautiful linens. It’s just as you had imagined.

Has the cake arrived yet? Where’s the DJ? Who is taking care of the name cards and setting out the wedding favors? So many details to consider… it’s a good thing that all the planning between the Rosemont staff and you were ironed out well ahead of time. Even the the horse and carriage to transport you “down the aisle” is standing by. But Shhhh… the groom doesn’t know! Won’t he be surprised when his lovely bride arrives to greet him in a carriage drawn by two immaculately groomed horses and a driver resplendent in top hat and tails! What a great recommendation that was by Rosemont. And how did they manage to keep it a secret from all of your arriving guests? Just another example of perfect coordination and attention to detail, you guess.

You can’t believe the time has finally come! Your guests have arrived and are seated around the old fashioned Victorian Gazebo in the front garden. A light breeze is coming off the mountain, and under a canopy of branches, the setting is idyllic. The Innkeeper steadies you as you descend from the carriage, and adjusts your train as you prepare to walk towards the altar. Your groom has never looked as handsome as he looks today. Everyone is smiling and you are absolutely radiant.

Your reception is the most fun you’ve had in months. The catering provided by Rosemont is top notch. The Rosemont caterer was kind enough to host a tasting for you and your fiancé several months ago, so you are confident that all will be as expected. The catering staff is experienced and professional, and the food is perfect. And what would you have done without the innkeeper? She did such a great job of making your guests feel welcome! The atmosphere is festive and relaxed and your guests are enjoying the country setting. Eventually, you make a grand exit with all of your guests waving to you from the front porch. You don’t have to worry about long goodbyes because you know that you will see many of your best friends and family at breakfast the next morning. At breakfast everyone raves about your wedding (where did you find this place?). Even your mother is smiling! You sigh contentedly, knowing you have made a lifetime of memories in just one weekend……
