With 2022 predicted to be the biggest year in the wedding industry, we’re scoping out which trends will rule in this record-breaking year. From micro weddings to gold details, we’ve picked out our favorite elements that we think we’ll see a lot of in 2022.

Micro Weddings

Gathering restrictions kept guest lists small in 2020, and couples are continuing to opt for more intimate weddings in lieu of inviting 200 + people. With micro weddings, couples can spend one-on-one time with their guests during their wedding events. It also allows for extra wiggle room in your budget to spend on wedding upgrades and specialty vendors.

Gold Tones

Gold is making a comeback in 2022. This traditional tone was overlooked for a few years, but is trending again for upcoming weddings. Chairs, flatware, chargers, linens and other wedding elements will show off this beautiful hue. It’s a great fit for any wedding style, from classic to modern.

Weekday Weddings

Because 2022 is such a busy year for weddings, couples are moving their wedding to a weekday, out of necessity as well as to save on cost. We’ve seen many wedding dates booked more than a year in advance. Couples who want to say “I do” in 2022 are choosing Monday and Thursday options since there is more availability on those days. These dates will often come with a price drop compared to a more popular Saturday date.

Domestic Destination Weddings

If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding with close family and friends, but are shy about traveling outside of the country, a domestic destination wedding might be for you. A lot of people are ready to get out of town and venture out to nearby areas for a destination event. If you live in a busy town, you may desire to head to the country for a relaxing wedding weekend. You might also choose a beach only a few hours away to tie the knot.

Bold Colors

Pastels and muted tones have taken center stage for a few years, but 2022 is the year of bold colors. Couples want their wedding to stand out, and adding vibrant shades to their color palette will help them do that. You can incorporate this trend with pops of color here and there, with bold monochromes, or go with a fully vibrant color scheme.

Specialty Vendors

Along with staple wedding vendors – caterer, planner, photographer, etc – couples are adding specialty vendors to give their guests a unique experience. Hire a local artist to do a live painting of your ceremony or first dance. Highlight a part of your cultural background with a Mariachi band or a song played on Scottish bagpipes. If you and your partner love to laugh, consider entertaining your guests with a comedian or improve actor during cocktail hour or dinner. Finish the night with surprise fireworks as you cut your cake.

Multi-Day Weddings

Couples want to spend more time with their friends and family, which means hosting multiple-day events that span an entire weekend. Guests can check in to local hotels (or your venue if it offers overnight accommodations) the afternoon before your wedding. Treat them to a welcome reception where they can mingle and get to know other guests, followed by a rehearsal dinner for those attending. Offer a suggested list of activities guests can enjoy the morning of your wedding as you’re getting ready, like breakfast and shopping options nearby. You can also put out lawn games at your venue to keep guests busy. The morning following your wedding arrange a farewell brunch before guests depart for home.
